TYROD TAYLOR

Tyrod Taylor is a quarterback celebrated for his dual-threat ability, leadership, and resilience throughout his football career. Born on August 3, 1989, Taylor played college football at Virginia Tech, where he became one of the most successful quarterbacks in the program’s history. As a four-year player and three-year starter, Taylor led the Hokies to back-to-back ACC Championships in 2008 and 2010, earning ACC Player of the Year and First-Team All-ACC honors in his senior season. He finished his college career with 7,017 passing yards, 44 touchdown passes, and over 2,000 rushing yards, cementing his status as one of Virginia Tech’s all-time greats.

Taylor was selected in the 6th round (180th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He served as the backup quarterback to Joe Flacco for four seasons, including the Ravens' Super Bowl XLVII victory in 2013. While he saw limited playing time during this period, Taylor gained valuable experience and built a reputation as a reliable teammate.

In 2015, Taylor signed with the Buffalo Bills, where he earned the starting quarterback role. Over three seasons with Buffalo, he showcased his ability as a starter, combining efficient passing with dynamic rushing. Taylor was instrumental in leading the Bills to their first playoff appearance in 17 years during the 2017 season, solidifying his place in franchise history. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2015.

After leaving Buffalo, Taylor had stints with the Cleveland Browns (2018), Los Angeles Chargers (2019-2020), and Houston Texans (2021), often serving as a bridge quarterback or backup while mentoring younger players. His time with the Chargers was notable for an unfortunate medical mishap in 2020 when a team doctor accidentally punctured his lung, leading to Justin Herbert taking over as the starter.

In 2023, Taylor joined the New York Jets, where he currently serves as the backup quarterback to Aaron Rodgers. Known for his professionalism, mobility, and ability to protect the football, Taylor continues to provide veteran leadership and contribute when called upon. With a career defined by resilience and adaptability, he remains a respected figure in the NFL, valued for his steady presence both on and off the field.
